Hart Publishing USA writes about books and the trade that produces them: how a manuscript
becomes a book, what each step costs, and who actually makes money along the way. Our readers
are writers deciding how to publish, small presses working out their numbers, and people who
simply want to know how the industry works. They want the practical version, not the romantic one.

We are selective. We would rather run one article that answers a real question than five that
circle it. If you know this trade from the inside — as an author, an editor, a printer, an agent
or a bookseller — we would like to hear from you.

Topics We Accept

  • traditional publishing: submissions, agents, advances and contracts
  • self-publishing platforms, print costs and distribution
  • the economics of a book, from print run to royalty statement
  • editing, proofreading and production, described by people who do it
  • rights, licensing and territory deals
  • ISBNs, metadata and why they decide whether a book is found
  • bookselling, libraries and academic distribution
  • book marketing that is not just “post about it on social media”
  • writing craft, where it connects to actually getting published
  • essays and essay writing, from structure to placing them
  • book writing: outlines, drafts, and finishing what you started
  • authors on their own process, told concretely
  • digital publishing: ebooks, audiobooks and subscription platforms
  • the business of running a small press

What We Will Not Run

  • articles written to place a link, with the subject chosen afterwards
  • unedited AI output — edited and fact-checked is fine, raw is not
  • pieces about a service where the author does not say it is theirs
  • anything padded to reach a word count

  • A long-tail audience that keeps finding strong evergreen posts months after publication

How it works

1 · Pitch your topic
Send a short proposal: working title, angle, 2-3 bullet outline, and a link to your best previous work.
2 · Get the green light
We reply within 24–48 hours with feedback, suggestions, or a go-ahead on your outline.
3 · Write the draft
Submit your full draft — original, well-structured, and written for our audience. Include at least one supporting image.
4 · Review & publish
We edit for clarity and style, coordinate any revisions with you, then publish with your byline and a link back to your site.

Editorial standards

  • Original, previously unpublished content — no spun or duplicate articles.
  • 1,000–1,500 words, clearly structured with H2 and H3 subheadings.
  • At least one high-quality image you own or have rights to use.
  • Well-researched, with sources cited where claims are made.
  • Up to two contextual outbound links (one to your site, one to an authority source) — no affiliate, gambling, adult, or spam links.
  • Professional, friendly tone — no excessive self-promotion.
  • No AI-generated content without substantial human editing and fact-checking.
  • We reserve the right to edit for clarity, style, and SEO before publication.
